Historic Photo - Tower 207

A high resolution scan of the above photo yields the closeup of Tower 207 at top. The image was scanned
from a slide obtained by Carl Codney. The slide is captioned "Houston, Texas SP fan trip, 8/31/57".
This date is problematic because Railroad Commission records list 1958 as the year the "207" designation
was granted. Note the white building immediately behind the tower structure appears to have survived and is
visible in the photos below.

Modern Photo - Tower 207

This photo was taken in June, 2001 facing due southwest from the southern tip of Chase St. near Tower 26.  The Houston
skyline is visible in the distance and the white building beneath the overpass is labeled Tower 207.

The wooden structure from the top images is gone, but the building behind it
appears to have survived and is labeled "Tower 207" (below). The tower was
located at the east end of the T&NO Hardy St. Yard near downtown Houston.
It was established as an electric interlocking at Maury St. in 1958 to control
T&NO traffic at the crossing of the original T&NO east-west main line and
the north-south ex-HE&WT line [Jim King photos]

Tower 207 no longer serves an interlocking function, but the building may still be used for storage purposes. There is an open field between Tower 207 and Tower 26 and they are roughly 1500 ft. apart.
