This tower was commonly referred to by railroaders as "Belt Junction". Historical information also refers to it as Metzger Junction possibly in reference to a Metzger's dairy processing plant located nearby. The photo was taken in December 1981. |

In the background of this May 15, 1982 photo is an SP SW1500 switcher heading into the north end of Southern Pacific's Miller Yard and the SP main line from Denison to Ennis. The track in the foreground is the T&P main looking railroad east. This curve will take a train a short distance to the north and Tower 119, also known as T&P Junction. |

East face of the tower on December 28, 1981. Footbridge in foreground allowed tower operator access across a creek to the SP main line out of Miller Yard to hand up paper orders to passing train crews. |

This photo was taken after the tower had been partially destroyed by fire after its abandonment. The railroad removed the remainder of the structure. If anyone knows the approximate date of the fire and removal of the structure, please let us know.Photo by Bob LaPrelle courtesy of Jim King. |
