www.txrrhistory.com - Interlocking Tower
68 - Houston, Texas (Englewood)
Text by Jim King; 11/24/2001
The Tower 68 building is still standing but it appears to be no longer used. It is isolated from the main Englewood yard by virtue of being along the street on the north side of the yard (Liberty St.?) while all of the employee parking and operations areas are on the south side of the yard. It looked abandoned to me and there were no cars near it. I suspect the interlocking function formerly associated with Tower 68 is either in one of the operations buildings at Englewood, or has been moved to the joint dispatching center at Spring. Wherever it is, it may still be referred to as Tower 68, but it is not in the actual tower building.
